Highlights
- Custom game modes in Fortnite, like Chained Together, offer highly detailed recreations of other video games.
- Recreation of popular games like Among Us and Overwatch in Fortnite showcase fans' creativity and innovation.
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 is on the horizon, promising a fresh slate of updates, including a highly anticipated Live Event. While the community eagerly awaits this update, the game continues to flourish with its diverse array of custom game modes. Notably, the custom game mode recreating the platformer Chained Together is trending for its extreme difficulty and multiplayer features.
Originally released in June, Anegar Games' Chained Together gained attention for its ascent-based gameplay, reminiscent of Only Up, but with the unique twist of characters being linked by a chain as they navigate obstacles. It wasn't long before resourceful Fortnite players recreated the game in Creative using assets from the battle royale. Even well-known streamers like Pokimane were keen to dive into Fortnite's version of Chained Together. Notably, Chained Together is not the first, and certainly won't be the last, popular game to be recreated in Fortnite.

Fortnite Reload was a huge hit among fans, so Epic Games decided to test the first tournament for this game mode on August 1. Fortnite Reload works well as an LTM, as many gamers feel very nostalgic about Chapter 1; this way they can enjoy a revamped version of the map whenever they need a break from Battle Royale. However, in my opinion, it's mostly a gimmick, and it shouldn't go in the direction of competitive gaming.
The Best Games That Have Been Reimagined Within The World Of Fortnite
Although many talented creators have recreated games in Fortnite, not all of these maps are still accessible. As a result, replicas of games like Super Mario Bros. and Mario Kart have been omitted from the list. Additionally, in some cases, fan-made modes have led to the introduction of official game modes, like the innovative Fortnite Fall Guys game mode, which made islands and assets officially available to the public.
Among Us
Inner Sloth's Among Us surged in popularity during the pandemic, captivating global audiences. Although the initial hype has diminished, the game remains a multiplayer favorite. The Fortnite version, created by user keeneo, is called IMPOSTOR. While the minigame has seen several updates throughout its lifespan, its core concept closely mirrors the original Among Us. Set in the depths of the ocean, up to ten players must work together aboard the Submarine Center to complete tasks and identify the impostor(s) before time runs out.

Fortnite adopted its own version of Among Us called Impostors in Chapter 2: Season 7, though it was later removed in Chapter 3: Season 3. The fan-created version is not affiliated with Epic Games.
Minecraft
While BlockCraft Free For All, the Minecraft-inspired mode in Fortnite, isn't a precise replica of Minecraft, the map bears remarkably similar features to Mojang's sandbox game. Given that Fortnite has its own open-world survival game with LEGO Fortnite, a perfect duplicate isn't necessary in BlockCraft. Nevertheless, including elements like Creepers, Zombies, and chests highlights user giogio's impressive attention to detail. Additionally, players can look forward to equipping OG Fortnite weapons, pickaxes, and Slurp Plants during battle.

Only Up
OnlyUp Fortnite recreates the popular platform climbing experience of Only Up! within Fortnite . Developed by a user named army, the game features core elements of the original 2023 game, including an altitude meter and timer. With support for up to 50 players, it offers a chaotic twist on the solo climb. Furthermore, this version serves as a worthwhile placeholder for the original Only Up! which was removed from Steam in September 2023 over potential copyright issues.

Overwatch
Although Fortnite has already expressed interest in the idea of a possible collaboration with Overwatch 2, as seen in a fan survey from May, there are already fan-made concepts illustrating how the hero shooter could appear within the Fortnite universe. For example, the custom PVP map 'Hanamura Gun Game' by ctjedi910 imagines what the Overwatch Assault map, Hanamura, would look like in Unreal Engine. Just as impressive, a mode called Fortwatch - FFA Deathmatch, allows players to select an Overwatch hero to play as, including load-outs that mimic their iconic kits.

Fortwatch Island Code: 3129-3600-5700
Subway Surfers
Subway Runners combines the fast-paced thrill of the classic endless runner, Subway Surfers, with the Fortnite universe. Often regarded as one of the greatest mobile games of all time, Subway Surfers transcends mere nostalgia. Crafted by natmor, the Fortnite adaptation accommodates up to ten players per lobby. Participants must navigate a dynamic obstacle course, collecting in-game currency while evading oncoming trains to achieve a higher score.

Honorable mentions include Dead By Daylight, Flappy Bird, Pac-Man, and Tetris.
