Chocolate and cherries are a match made in heaven, especially in these cookies. The combo is perfection!

I use dried cherries in these cookies. You can find dried cherries at just about every grocery store. Look by the raisins or in the bulk bin section, if your store has one. I buy them in bulk at Smith’s. My boys love snacking on them so I have to hide them if I want to bake cookies. I have my own secret stash.

The chocolate cookies are soft, chewy, and filled with chocolate chunks and dried cherries. Thecontrast of tart cherrieswith the sweetness of cocoa and chocolate chunks is perfection. The cookies are SO good right out of the oven when the dark chocolate chunks are oozing out of the cookies. Make sure you have a glass of cold milk close by because you are going to need it to wash down your cookie…or cookies. I can never stop at one!

Add Chocolate Cherry Cookies to your February baking list! They are a great treat for the Super Bowl, Valentine’s Day, or my birthday, which is on Sunday. You can celebrate with me by eating cookies:) Or you can just bake and eat them ALL month because it is chocolate lovers month. See, February is the BEST month! Enjoy!

  4. Saw your yummy-looking Nutella cookies on PW website today. ( Our daughter lives in Tulsa so got to visit “The Lodge” last month when it was open for tours on Thursdays in Jan.–so fun!) One quick question…where do you get shelled hazelnuts? The stores around here (MA.) only seem to have filberts in the shell at Thanksgiving. Go Pats!

  15. We just made them and Oh My Goodness, these are terrific. We rehydrated the cherries in a bit of cranberry juice in the microwave before adding them, and wow, they are tender and so flavorful, then there is the deep chocolate flavor from the cocoa. Wow.

I love these cookies – the cherries are a great combo with the chocolatey goodness. I had to cut the flour by over 1/2 cup otherwise they wouldn’t hold together and took too long to bake. Thanks for the unique recipe

Great cookies! I halved the recipe and it made 12 cookies. Letting them cool for a few minutes on the sheet before taking them off made a huge difference.

Without a doubt these are the best cookies I have ever made! I did make a couple of changes. Rather than 2 1/2 cups of flour I used 2 1/4 cup as they seemed a tad dry with the 2 1/2 cups flour. I also used 1 tsp. of cherry extract rather than vanilla. I had no chocolate chunks so I used chocolate chips. Nothing beats chocolate and cherry! This is such a great recipe and everyone I make them for loves them!!!!

    1. Glad you loved them!

This recipe is absolutely the best! I get raves from everyone who I give these cookies to. A sure winner . I made one minor change. I use 2 1/4 cups of flour as for me the 2 1/2 cups made them too dry.

  25. Can I freeze the dough balls and bake from frozen?

    Reply

    1. Yes! Just add a few minutes to the baking time.

  26. Delicious
