Supplies for Your DIY Essential Oil Bath Bombs

What you’ll need to make your Essential Oil Bath Bombs

You probably have some of these items already in your kitchen pantry like baking soda and cornstarch(also known as cornflour).

But most people probably don’t normally have citric acid laying around. I buy mine on Amazon. I also buy my fractionated coconut oil there.

Citric Acid

You’ll need 1 cup of Citric Acid. This is what makes the bath bombs fizzy! The citric acid combines with the baking soda and creates the fizz that we are looking for. Be sure to buy a food grade, non gmo Citric Acid like this one.

  • The fine granular NON-GMO citric acid is a kitchen essential used in preserving, flavoring, and cleaning completely; preserves the Vitamin C content of a food product.

Fractionated Coconut Oil

You’ll want a high quality fractionated coconut oil for your bath bombs. This will be soaking into your skin so we want to make sure we are using safe ingredients. I buy this one.

Essential Oils To Use In Your Bath Bombs

Please use high quality essential oils since these will be absorbing into your skin. Inexpensive fragrance oils can be quite toxic and harmful and are not intended to be used topically on our skin.

Most essential oils are fine to add to your bath bombs. Personally, I would stay away from oils that have a high menthol content such as Peppermint or Wintergreen. These might not feel so great “down there”, if you know what I mean.

You can dry your own flowers, or buy a mixed batch of pre-dried flowers like this one if you’re like me and don’t have a green thumb or the fore-site to dry flowers for future projects. I don’t tend to keep things like dried flowers lying around, so I resort to buying them.

Add Colors to your DIY Essential Oil Bath Bombs

Many people like to add fun colors to their bath bombs. You’ll want to use safe colors, not food dye. Food Dye will stain your tub and your skin. No one wants to come out of their tub green.

These Mica powders are what you’ll want to use for the coloring in your bath bombs.

  1. You’ll want to divide your mixture into several different bowls.
  2. Dye each bowl’s mixture a different color.
  3. Then layer some of the mixture from each bowl into your molds. One layer at a time.

This process takes a bit more time than doing a single color in each mold, but the results are so amazing and impressive! Totally worth it if you’re giving these as a gift.
