This classic and simple Paleo and Whole30 ham recipe will be bringing your family together each time you make it. The Whole30 leftover ham will just be a bonus! Being the holidays are approaching I wanted to share my favorite (easy) way to make a beautiful Whole30 holiday ham for your dining room table. A lot of people correlate ham with pineapple, and while I love that option, when I think of a holiday ham, I want savory, not super-duper fruity.

This Paleo ham recipe post is sponsored by Pederson’s Farms. I’m happy to work with a company I love, use and believe in so much! Thanks for your support here on the blog and your support for Pederson’s Farms!

The holiday meals at my house always focus on the main event. AKA, the ham. I always look forward to the side dishes, but it’s the ham that’s at the center of the table that I want the most. When I was little I always assumed it took hours for my grandma to make, but now that I’m making my own holiday ham, I know it doesn’t have to be something you slave over all day.

Pederson’s Farms offers fully cooked and pre-sliced Whole30 ham options that you just have to heat and serve! It’s the best part about this recipe. Less time in the kitchen and more time spent with my family. They offer Paleo hams in all different sizes, but the half ham with the bone in is my favorite. It means creamy ham soup cooked low and slow with the ham bone and ham leftovers later!

You can get this holiday Whole30 and Paleo ham in the Ultimate Whole30 Box on The Simple Grocer.

This Whole30 ham recipe only requires a few things. A holiday ham, obviously! And then just whole cloves and mustard. Easy peasy and the ham is prepped and ready for heating in just a few minutes.

FAQs

What ham is Whole30 approved? ›

Pederson's Farms offers fully cooked and pre-sliced Whole30 ham options that you just have to heat and serve! It's the best part about this recipe. Less time in the kitchen and more time spent with my family. They offer Paleo hams in all different sizes, but the half ham with the bone in is my favorite.

What makes ham taste better? ›

Peach preserves, hot pepper jelly, and maple syrup work as sweet bases for glazes that add sheen as well as distinct flavor. Tasty additions such as aromatics, herbs, and spices switch up a traditional ham and make it truly memorable.

How to make a fully cooked ham? ›

Bake in a preheated 325F oven for 10-14 minutes per pound, or until a meat thermometer registers 135F. Remove from oven and let sit for 10 minutes before serving. If the ham came with extra glaze, follow the package directions for adding it and cooking the glaze.

What is the healthiest ham to buy? ›

Choose Uncured Options

Lots of ham choices exist at the store. You'll find glazed honey hams, brown sugar cured hams, and other options that are loaded with salt and sugar. Choose uncured options instead. These are usually marked as fresh and are more organic choices that you can season later as you desire.

What is the safest ham to eat? ›

Whether the meat is smoked or cooked, the brine and the high cooking temperatures work together to kill bacteria and create a ham that is cooked and safe to eat. In short, if you purchase a ham that is labeled as cured, smoked, or baked this, it is likely "pre-cooked" and safe to eat.

What is the tastiest ham in the world? ›

The story of Jamón Ibérico ham is steeped in mystery and romance. The ancient oak pastures of Spain, the noble black Ibérico pig, the mountain air which caresses each ham as it magically is transformed into one of the world's most exquisite foods - all play a part in this uniquely Spanish phenomenon.

Why do you soak a ham before cooking? ›

If necessary, soak the gammon (ham) in cold water to reduce saltiness, according to butcher or packet instructions (most do not need this anymore as curing methods have changed). Weigh to calculate the cooking time. Place in a large pan, cover with cold water and bring to the boil.

What keeps ham moist? ›

Put Liquid in Your Pan

The best way to keep your ham from drying out is to utilize the drippings that come in the package. Pour the juice from the package onto the ham. If there isn't a lot of juice in your package, you may want to add your own liquid.

Can you eat a fully cooked ham without baking? ›

Both whole or half, cooked, vacuum-packaged hams packaged in federally inspected plants and canned hams can be eaten cold, right out of the package.

What is the best way to cook a ham without drying it out? ›

How do you bake a ham without drying it out? Spiral cut hams should be covered with aluminum foil to help retain moisture when re heating. You could also place a foil pan with water underneath the ham to create some steam inside the oven to keep everything moist.

Should a fully cooked ham be covered when baking? ›

Place the ham on a rack in a shallow roasting pan. Insert an oven-safe thermometer into the center of the ham. (It should not touch the bone of a bone-in ham.) Bake, uncovered, in the preheated oven until ham registers the desired temperature (140°F for pre-cooked ham).

Can I have ham on Whole30? ›

It's not easy to find Whole30-compliant bacon, sausage, or ham in your local grocery store. That's why I keep a healthy supply of Pederson's Whole30 Approved offerings in my freezer. Their no-sugar bacon is a breakfast staple, and their no-sugar hams make planning a family brunch or holiday dinner effortless.

Can you eat ham on Whole30 diet? ›

It depends on the ham -- if it's JUST ham, then it's Whole30-friendly, but if it has added sugar or anything, then no. I tend to do steak and eggs at my diner, because I've asked and know the steaks are just steaks with salt and pepper.

What ham isn't processed? ›

Uncured ham is a type of pork that hasn't been preserved through traditional curing methods, such as the addition of salt, sugar, and nitrates. Instead, this meat undergoes a more natural curing process that involves using ingredients like sea salt and celery powder, which are rich in natural nitrites.
