Saturday, June 9, 1990 Fort Worth Star-Telegram Section 1, Page 25 Barbara Baxley, on stage, screen, Associated Press NEW YORK Barbara Baxley, an actress whose career encompassed roles as diverse as Shakespeare in the park and TV's Hawaii Five-O, has died, apparently of a heart attack. She was 63. Ms. Baxley was found dead Thursday in her Upper West Side apartment. She appeared in I numerous TV programs, including Murder, She Wrote, Hawaii Five-O, Playhouse 90, and Studio One.

Her Broadway debut was in 1948, when she played a confused bride in the revival of Noel Coward's Private Lives. She received a Tony nomination in 1960 when she played a different kind of bride in Tennessee Williams' play Period of Adjustment. Other Broadway credits include Whodunnit in 1983, The Three Sisters in 1964 and She Loves Me in 1963. Her performance as Sally Field's Pamela J. Fojtik Homemaker FORT WORTH Pamela J.

Fojtik, a homemaker, died yesterday at a Fort Worth hospital. She was 33. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Mount Olivet Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Fojtik was born in Cushing, and had lived in Fort Worth for 20 years. Stocker FORT WORTH Henry Elbert "Chicken" Odom a retired stocker for Lance Potato Chips, died Tuesday at a Fort Worth hospital. He was 66. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at True Vine Baptist Church. Burial will be in Skyvue Memorial Gardens.

Louis native ARLINGTON Donna L. Thomason, a native of St. Louis, died Thursday at an Arlington hospital. She was 41. Funeral will be at 3 p.m.

63, actress television mother in the 1979 film Norma Rae, won Baxley critical praise, as did her 1981 performance in the Wendy Wasserstein play Isn't It Romantic? Her film credits included Nashville in 1975, Countdown in 1968, No Way to Treat a Lady in 1968 and All Fall Down in 1960. She played Isabel in Measure for Measure in a New York Shakespeare Festival production in Central Park in 1966, and Portia in The Merchant of Venice in the American Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, in 1967. A native of Stockton, Ms. Baxley won a scholarship to the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York after graduating from college in California. In New York, she studied with Sanford Meisner.

She also was a charter member of the Actors Studio, where she studied with Elia Kazan. She had no immediate family. Verdie Mae Graham Homemaker FORT WORTH Verdie Mae Graham, a homemaker, died yesterday at a Fort Worth hospital. She was 82. Funeral will be at 3:30 p.m.

a retired department store sales clerk, died yesterday at a Mansfield nursing center. She was 89. Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield. Burial will be in Britton Cemetery in Mansfield.

Mrs. Mitchell was born in Aberdeen, Miss. She moved to near Mansfield in 1918 and into Mansfield in 1940. Mrs. Mitchell worked as a sales clerk for Everybody's and later was with Leonards Department Store for more than 15 years.

She retired in 1966. Mrs. Mitchell was a member of First Baptist Church of Mansfield and the Order of Eastern Star, Mansfield Chapter 876. Her husband, the Rev. Roy Mitchell, died in 1980.

Survivors: Two sons, George Mitchell and Horace Mitchell, both of Mansfield; daughter, Geraldine Randall of Irving; nine grandchildren; and many greatgrandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Luker taught school first in Sweetwater and in the 1940s was a history teacher at Lubbock High School. In the 1950s and 1960s, Mrs.

Luker taught English at Diamond HillJarvis High School in Fort Worth. She retired in 1969. Mrs. Luker was a member of University Christian Church, Woman's Club of Fort Worth, TCU Women Exes, the American Association of University Women and University Place Book Club. Her husband, R.B.

"Ham" Gowin, a retired Federal Aviation Administration chief inspector for 33 years, died Thursday at an Arlington hospital.

He was 76. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. today in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. today at Woodhaven Presbyterian Church in Irving.

Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Gowin was born in Louisville, Ky. He learned to fly at Bowman Field in Louisville and was a barnstorming aviator and instructor. In 1941, Mr.

Gowin joined the Civil Aviation Authority, forerunner of the FAA. He was chief inspector of the General Aviation District Office in Richmond, for 22 years before moving to the Fort Worth office, where he was to participate in a general aviation accident program. When aircraft hijackings were happening more often, Mr. Gowin became one of the early sky marshals. He retired in 1974.

Mr. Gowin donated much of his aviation collection to the University of Texas Aviation Museum, which now is housed at Love Field in Dallas. He was a member and deacon of Woodhaven Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Quite Birdmen, a master Mason and member of Scottish Rite and a member of Moslah Shrine Temple. The family suggests memorials be made to the Building Fund of the Woodhaven Presbyterian Church, 3650 N.
